Nate Harris meets the media

JUCO All-American transfer Nate Harris has been on campus for a few weeks and on Thursday he spent a few minutes with the media following the day's voluntary workouts.

Dodge City Community College transfer Nate Harris arrived on the Louisville campus a few weeks ago and recently began voluntary workouts with the team. Following Thursday's workout, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound athlete visited with the media and answered a host of questions.

What are your impressions of the summer workouts?

"It's a big jump from juco to Division I. I never thought that I'd make it to Division I, but I'm here now. I'm just glad to be here. Everything is so put together and is everybody is one - there are no singled out players. I think we will dominate this season with all of us working out. The workouts are great. I have never been pushed this much in my life."

Are you impressed with the talent on this team?

"Everybody is in t-shirts right now, so I'm looking forward to getting into pads and then I'll see. As far as last year, I was real impressed, that's why I committed here."

Which position do you see yourself playing?

"I'm just here to win...whatever it takes. Whatever position coach wants me to play at I will give it my best to complete that mission. Right now this is a new scheme, so once I get down with the plays the sky is the limit for me."

Coach Cassity has referred to you as a play-maker. Is that accurate?

"That is accurate. I just to get to the ball and making hits. I just want to win games...I'm here to win. I want to bring enthusiasm to the whole team and be a leader. Although I'm a junior, I'm still here to be a leader."

Why did you choose Louisville?

"The coaching staff and the players. When I visited I just saw the game. I never went and saw the community and campus, so I just basically committed because of the coaching staff, the players and the facilities. Now that I'm here, this is all new to me. Right now I'm just glad that I'm here. I'm not going home until after the bowl game. I'm staying here for the whole summer."

Who would you compare yourself to?

"I have an attitude like Ray Lewis, but I just want to be my own man - Nate Harris. I'm going to bring everything I have to the table and help put this thing together. We have the number one offense and we are trying to have the number one defense too."

Do you feel that you will make an impact on defense this year?

"Most definitely. There is no doubt in my mind. I did in junior college as a true freshman and started. Even though this is D-I, I feel like there's no difference, except that I'll be on television with bigger stakes - national championships and BCS bowls - so I'm here to do what I have been doing."
