Cards offer Florida All-State running back

Dunnellon (FL) High School running back Rodney Jones has rushed for over 2,500 yards the past two seasons, garnering All-State honors as a junior.

Dunnellon High School running back Rodney Jones has been dominant since joining his team's starting rotation as a sophomore. Over the past two season's, Jones has rushed for 2,795 yards and 39 touchdowns and he essentially averages a first down every time he touches the ball.

"I want to rush for at least 1,800 yards this year," the third team All-State selection said.

Despite the impressive stat line, Jones hasn't drawn too much attention to date. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound back chose not to attend many combines or camps - he may attend the upcoming Florida State camp - keeping him away from the eyes of numerous college coaches.

However, one school noticed him early on.

"I have one offer," Jones told InsidetheVille.com. "Louisville offered me early in the spring. I'm also hearing from UCF, Florida, Miami and South Florida."

While the offensive numbers draw the attention of coaches, it's his speed that has many of those coaches interested in possibly playing him on the defensive side of the ball as a defensive back.

"I'm an all-around type of player," said Jones. "I don't mind playing on either side of the ball. Just put me on the field and I'll play."

"I'm being recruited as either a running back or defensive back," he continued. "Most say that they could use me at either. I don't mind playing on either side of the ball."

Jones, who was also named one of the top ten running back prospects in the Sunshine State by the Orlando Sentinal, doesn't claim a current leader.
