"That was just a misunderstanding," Whitehead said of the reports of a commitment to Clemson. "The guy I talked to just took it all out proportion. I was just telling him that I really liked my visit there."
In fact, Whitehead, who is fully recovered from a knee injury that forced him to miss the majority of his junior season, doesn't claim a current leader.
"Clemson, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisville and a bunch of others," he said. "I'm going to look at all of the schools that have offered me."
"First, I want to find out if the school has my major. I want to major in computer technology or business. I'm also basically looking at the depth charts to make sure I can play as a freshman. I want to see who I'm going to play behind, because that's important."
Whitehead also said that Louisville assistant Joe Whitt Jr. is his primary recruiter.
"I talk to Coach Whitt a lot. He's been telling me everything about Louisville."
With an offer list that has grown over 30, Whitehead said that he will begin narrowing his list during the season, but isn't sure when he might make a final decision.
"I'm not sure when I will. I just want to make sure I check into as much as I can."
