ITV Gallery: Cards attack summer heat

Thursday's temperature, which soared above 100 degrees on the turf inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, didn't slow down the momentum being developed during the summer's voluntary workouts.

Despite the heat index reaching above 100 - much higher on the playing surface at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium - the majority of the 2005 football squad continued their voluntary workouts on Thursday afternoon.

"It was pretty hot out here today, but that will never stop us from working," said outside linebacker Brandon Johnson. "It could be 115 (degrees) out here, but it still wouldn't slow us down."

With ice and water continually being restocked, the players conducted a lengthy skellie between the skill positions, which became a little heated itself.

However, despite a few solid efforts on the defensive side of the ball and plenty of talk from each unit, the offense came out on top this time, as each quarterback took turns finding different receivers in the corner of the end zone.

The freshmen that have continued to work with the returning veterans have made great strides in just the past week. The time watching and listening to the veterans last week have helped the incoming athletes become more comfortable working with their new team.
