Caracter leaning heavily toward Louisville

Derrick Caracter doesn't appear quite ready to end his recruitment, but the Louisville Cardinals are clearly the front-runners to land his services when the time comes.

At the Reebok ABCD camp in Teaneck, NJ early last month, Derrick Caracter told Inside The Ville that he was leaning toward signing with Louisville over Memphis during the November signing period.

Apparently, nothing since that conversation has changed the 6-9, 270-pound power forward's mind.

Wednesday night at the New York Hoops Festival, Caracter told Russ Blake of InsideNewYork.com, Scout.com's New York High School Sports affiliate, that the Cardinals still hold a significant lead over John Calipari's Tigers for his services.

"I am 80/20 leaning to Louisville," Caracter told Blake after his New York Panthers played the Metro Hawks at Baruch College. "It's because of Rick Pitino."

Caracter, who also mentioned interest in Memphis to Blake, is expected to make an official visit to Louisville early next month before officially announcing his college decision.

The No. 13 player nationally accoring to Scout.com, Caracter ranks as the fourth-best power forward prospect in the Class of 2006.
