Caracter will announce for Louisville later today

Sources close to 6-9 Derrick Caracter have confirmed with Inside The Ville that the star power forward from Elizabeth, New Jersey will pick Louisville this afternoon during a press conference at St. Patrick's High School.

Several media outlets in the New York/New Jersey area published reports Thursday morning citing sources that 6-9 Derek Caracter will pick Louisville this afternoon during a 5 P.M. press conference at St. Patrick's High School in Elizabeth, NJ.

Both the New York Daily News and New Jersey Times-Ledger cited unnamed sources in their stories today.

"I am 99 percent sure Louisville's where he's going to be," a source told the Times-Ledger. "I still think there's an outside chance that he could surprise people, but I doubt it."

Thursday morning Inside The Ville also confirmed with sources close to Caracter that the 285-pound power forward has chosen Louisville and will indeed announce his intention to play for Rick Pitino's Cardinals later this afternoon.

Caracter selected the Cardinals over former Conference USA rival Memphis.

Scout.com's No. 13 ranked prospect nationally, Caracter will join 6-2 Edgar Sosa from the Bronx, NY and 6-3 Jerry Smith from Wauwatosa, WI who both verbally commited to Louisville earlier this summer.

Stay tuned to Inside The Ville throughout the day for official word of Derrick Caracter's decision.

Mike Sullivan and Russ Blake will both attend Caracter's press conference for Inside The Ville this afternoon, and we'll have live reports from both later this afternoon.

Also, Scout.com national recruiting analyst Dave Telep will chat with our members this evening at 7 P.M. about Caracter's decision.
