"I'm very happy and excited about how the recruiting process has been going for me," said the 6'6, 195-pound Roper. "I have a lot of great offers and I'm looking forward to taking some official visits to see the schools."
With a list of scholarship offers that includes Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland and Oregon, Roper says that he has yet to form a list a favorites, or that any one program stands out.
"I don't really have a favorite right now," he said. "I want to see some of the schools before I start thinking about which school's I like more."
While Roper, who keeps in weekly contact with Louisville quarterbacks coach Jeff Brohm, has yet to claim a short list of favorites, he did add that he is planning on making an official visit with at least three schools.
"I want to visit Louisville because I've never seen the campus," he said. "I'll probably take official visits to Duke and Tennessee too."
As for his interest in the 12th-ranked Cardinals program?
"They had the #1 offense in the country last year and I'd definitely like to be apart of something like that," said Roper.
Playing in an offense that is run-dominated, the Buford High School quarterback says that that while he'd prefer to be tossing passes to a group of talented receivers, that he is happy to do what he can to help the team win.
"Our whole offense is really smash mouth football," explained Roper, who helped guide his team to a 31-17 season-opening win. "I would like to throw the ball more, but it's not a matter of what I like, but what's best for the team."
With his senior season is now underway, Roper hinted that a college decision may be on the horizon.
"I don't really know exactly when I'll make a decision, but it will probably be during the next four to five weeks," he said. "I'll probably make a couple official visits during the next few weeks."
