Josh Minton's recruitment heating up

Josh Minton is a big time defensive line prospect from the Bluegrass State and he's accumulated offers from some of the best programs in the south. Five schools make up his newest favorites list and talks about each one right here with Scout.com.

"The ones I like the most are Kentucky, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Florida and Auburn. I would say everyone is even right now since I've set the recruiting process aside for the time being. It wouldn't be fair to my teammates if I was thinking about what I was doing next year and not focusing on being a leader and helping them win," Josh Minton said.

Why each of those teams made his list?

Kentucky: "I think they showed a lot of heart. In just one game they've proved that they could play with the best. I think that shows their character and how hard they've worked."

Louisville: "Their a great program. Their coaches have pushed them really hard and they have great athletes. It would be an honor to play there."

Virginia Tech: "I've really bonded with the coaches and I love the stability in the program. They play defense well and that's what I'm all about."

Florida: "They're definitely going in the right direction. They always had the athletes and I just felt they needed the discipline. Coach Meyer has brought that."

Auburn: "They're a good defensive school also. They have fast defensive end's that can get to the play and I like Coach Tuberville. From meeting Coach Dunn, I think he's a real hard nosed guy so I don't expect any drop off."

Minton will take his time before making a commitment.

"I haven't set any visits but I plan on taking all 5. I went to the Kentucky/Louisville game and I'm going to watch Virginia Tech/Ohio as well. I may also go see Kentucky against Idaho State too."

Which schools has he spoken to since September first?

"I've talked to all of my favorites since then and I actually talked to Coach Amato at N.C. State last night as well as Coach Brooks at Kentucky."
