U of L coach watches 6-7 Jamel Horne in San Diego

Jamel Horne, a talented 6-7, 180-pound junior small forward from San Diego, Ca., is wide-open in his recruitment and is receiving interest from a slew of the nation's top college basketball programs, including the University of Louisville.

Louisville assistant Marvin Menzies travelled to California yesterday to watch Jamelle Horne, a 6-6, 180-pound junior small forward from San Diego (Calif.) High, work out.

Horne told Scout.com's Greg Hicks that he's currently "wide-open" in his recruitment. The 12th-rated small forward prospect in the junior class by Scout.com, Horne has a lengthy list with Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Georgetown, SMU, Washington, Louisville, UConn and Kentucky in the mix.

"The nickname "Human Highlight Film" is already taken, but that would be an apt moniker for Horne," Hicks wrote recently. "He's got a classic wing body and he's most effective when he's slashing to the basket. Despite being somewhat slender, Horne has no fear when he's attacking the basket and he'll rebound in traffic."

"In a 2007 West Coast class that is full of wings, Horne has as big an upside as any of them," added Hicks. "He will likely be recruited by top schools across the country."

A solid student in the classroom, Horne plays for the Compton Magic on the AAU circuit.
