"We're leaving for Louisville [Friday] morning," he said. "I think we're coming back on Sunday. This is my first one and I have no other one's scheduled right now."
Despite playing in a run-dominated offense, the 6-foot-7, 195-pound quarterback attracted the attention of college coaches following a successful junior season and then again at the Scout.com combine this past spring.
In addition to Louisville, Roper has collected scholarship offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland and Oregon and lists those schools, along with South Carolina and Tennessee as his favorites.
"I'm going on my visit with an open mind," he said. "I really don't know what to expect from it. I just want to take it all in."
Roper has helped his Buford High School squad to a perfect start on the season.
"It's going real well - we're 4-0," he said. "I haven't thrown the ball much, but I haven't needed to either."
Roper will be on hand for the Cardinals home opener against Oregon State on Saturday, as will a number of unofficial visitors, such as Jimorris Johnson and Tyler Wimsatt. Be sure to stay logged on to InsideTheVille.com for complete coverage of the No.10 Cardinals home opener.
