Fans Can See Cards' First Basketball Practice

Tickets go on sale Thursday for the initial practice, as well as for October 26 Red-White Scrimmage

University of Louisville men's basketball fans can watch the Cardinals' first practice of the 2005-06 season in an event to benefit the Derek Smith Memorial Fund on Friday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. in Cardinal Arena.

Tickets for the 2005-06 Basketball Premiere in honor of Derek Smith are available for a donation of $50. It is not a typical "Midnight Madness" type evening, but will be a true full first practice for the Cardinals. Doors will open at 7:45 p.m.

U of L will also provide a preseason look at the Cardinals in a Red-White intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in Cardinal Arena. Tickets for the scrimmage are $10 each, or $7 for U of L students and children 16-and-under.

Tickets for both events will go on sale on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. at both U of L Ticket Offices, located near Gate 2 of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium or on the third floor of the Swain Student Activities Center. Tickets may also be purchased at Saturday's U of L football game at the Gate 2 ticket office and in the Brown and Williamson Club. Telephone orders will also be accepted by calling (502) 852-5151.
