"It's going pretty well, but we do have a losing record right now," he said on Wednesday. "I think we are turning things around at the right time and that we are headed in the right direction."
This weekend, Southwestern hosts Taylor County in an important game that the home team is expected to win.
Taylor County's power, up-the-middle, running attack should translate into a more than usual active game for the 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end.
"I hope so," he said. "Most teams don't run on my side. It's been like that for the entire season."
Off the field, Minton continues to receive considerable attention from college's throughout the region. With scholarship offers from programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and a host of others already in hand, Minton has the opportunity to play at a number of the nations top programs. With so many options available, the All-State performer isn't ready to rule out anyone just yet.
"I've thought about it a little bit," he explained. "I wouldn't say that I really have a favorite yet. I'm not really ready to discuss a set of school's as favorites. I haven't planned any official visits yet, but I do plan on taking all five."
Minton also added that he is near certain of at least two school's that will receive official visits later this year.
"I'm pretty sure that I'll take visits to Kentucky and Louisville, but there will be some others too."
Minton has been impressed by the play
of U of L defensive end Elvis Dumervil
"I haven't been able to go, but I've watched almost every game on t.v.," he said. "They're defense has looked pretty good most of the time. Elvis Dumervil is having a great year."
"Wow! Watching him and seeing the things that he is doing gives me something to work towards. He's just so quick - it's like he has an extra gear that he goes into to when he's out there."
