Cards vying for 4-star WR's final visit

Melvin Patterson, a four-star wide receiver prospect from Florida, already has one official visit lined up and has a pretty good idea about three others. Now, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Patterson is trying to decide is which Big East school - West Virginia, Louisville or South Florida - for his fifth and final visit.

Melvin Patterson is a big wide receiver prospect at 6-3 and 205 pounds from Santa Fe High School in Florida that has had some tough luck as a senior, but he is ready to come back strong.

"I had knee surgery about a week and a half ago," said Patterson. "I have started stretching this week. The doctor told me I was making good progress and htat I could possibly be on the exercise bike by next Tuesday. I'm working out every day; I'm working real hard to get back to 100%."

Patterson's knee injury hasn't scared off college recruiters.

"I have about 10 offers right now," Patterson said. "Coach Hevesy from Florida (offer), Coach Allen from Florida State, Coach Soldinger from Miami, and Coach Dixon from NC State (offer) pretty much call me every week. They ask me how my knee is coming along. They talk to me about coming in for a visit. There are some schools that are trying to talk me into committing right now before I even visit."

Patterson has been on several unofficial visits already, and he has set up an official.

"I went to the Florida State/Miami game, Florida/Wyoming, and USF/Louisville. I have one visit set up to go to NC State on January 19th. I also plan on visiting Florida, Florida State, and Miami. West Virginia, Louisville, and USF are one of the schools that will get my last visit."
