Quotable: Chad Millard

Chad Millard, a 6-8 freshman forward, saw his first action for the Louisville Cardinals Wednesday night in the team's exhibition against Bellarmine. After the game, Millard spoke with Inside The Ville about his team's performance.

6-8 freshman forward Chad Millard played 24 minutes Wednesday night against NCAA Division II Bellarmine, more minutes than any other U of L freshman. Millard finished with five points and three rebounds on 2-3 shooting from the field. He also had 1 assist and 1 turnover.

After the Cardinals 70-63 win over the Knight's, Millard spoke briefly with Inside The Ville about his team's performance.

What was the atmosphere like in the locker room before the game? Everybody was up, everybody was positive. I couldn't wait to get out there and play in front of the fans on this court as a Cardinal. And I think that was the same for all the freshmen. This was just an exhibition but it shows us what we've got to work on. I think we've got a lot to work but I think we're going to move in the right direction.

How do you think you played tonight? I feel I played an alright game. I need to work on my defense off the ball. I just looking to fit in with the guys and do whatever they need me to do. We got the win and that's all that matters.

Are there other areas of your game that you're working to improve? I need to become a stronger rebounder because you can never get enough rebounds. So I work on that and get a little bit stronger going into the season and I think that will help our team do much better as the season progresses.

Any thoughts on why the team shot less than 60 percent from the free throw line? We work on free throws a lot. I think the biggest problem was nerves. When you're at the free throw line it's just you and you've got a lot of things going through your mind. I think it was basically nerves.
