Whitehead set for weekend visit to Louisville

Deantwan 'Peanut' Whitehead, Scout.com's No.3-rated defensive end, will spend the weekend in Louisville on an official visit

This weekend's game against Syracuse has become an important game for the Louisville coaching staff, both on and off the field, as a handful top prospects will be making weekend visits and will be in the stands for the Cardinals final home game of the year.

Among the visitors will be Deantwan Whitehead, a Scout.com 5-star prospect, from Birmingham (Ala.) West End High School.

"I'm looking forward to seeing a whole different setting from what I'm used to," he told Inside The Ville on Tuesday. "It will be a completely new enviroment and I want to see what it's all about up there."

The 6-6, 245-pound defensive end prospect, who attended the Alabama-Auburn game last weekend and currently has an additional official visit set with Arkansas, has turned his focus towards recruiting now that his season is over.

"I still need to cut my list down," he said of potential short list of favorites.

Whitehead will begin his official visit with U of L on Friday evening. During his time in the River City he will receive an upclose look at the program's facilities, including the new Trager Indoor Practice Facility, visit with the coaching staff, spend time with a number of the current members of the team and more.

"I'm pretty sure I'll talk to the entire coaching staff, but I don't really know what to expect," he said.

The standout lineman is scheduled to announce his college decision on signing day during 'Countdown to Signing Day' with Scout.com's Jamie Newburg on Fox Sports South.
