Cole still waiting on offer from Louisville

Three-star DL Nate Cole was hoping an unofficial visit to the University of Louisville over the weekend would result in an offer from the Cardinal coaching staff. It didn't happen. However, Cole still lists U of L atop his list, and could receive the offer he's looking for when a Louisville assistant visits his school in the near future.

Nate Cole, a 6-2, 260-pound defensive tackle from Trotwood, Ohio, is still waiting on a scholarship offer from Louisville after making an unofficial visit to the Cardinals game against Syracuse over the weekend.

Rated a three-star prospect by, Cole enjoyed his visit to U of L despite the lack of an offer.

"It went real well and I really liked Louisville a whole lot," said Cole, who made the trip to Louisville with his grandparents, high school coach and a couple of friends. I liked how they played with intensity and their facilities."

During his visit, Cole had an opportunity to speak with U of L assistants Mike Cassity and Kevin Wolthausen.

"I talked to the defensive coordinator (Cassity) and the defensive line coach (Wolthausen)," said Cole. "The defensive line coach said he was going to come up to my high school next week and told my grandparents that he was going to try and persuade me to come down there."

Wolthausen also spent time explaining some of the in's and out's about how the Cardinals use their interior linemen in Cassity's attacking defensive schemes.

"He basically told me they were glad that I was there and he talked about how they use their defensive tackles," said Cole.

Now, Cole will await Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino's decision whether or not to extend a scholarship offer.

"They're (defensive coaches) waiting on word from the head coach," Cole said.

Asked about his leaders, Cole named two favorites.

"Probably Toledo is my favorite, then Louisville," Cole said, adding that an offer from U of L would move the Cardinals to the top of his list of favorites.

Cole has official visits scheduled with Toledo on Dec. 2 and Illinois Dec. 9.

"I might also take an official visit to Central Florida," he added.

Cole doesn't have an official visit to Louisville lined up yet.
