Lumkin, the Class 4A Mr. Award winner, is considering Kentucky, Louisville and Tennessee. He'll take his first official visit to Kentucky this weekend, and might commit to the Wildcats during his visit.
"There's a good chance I might commit to Kentucky this weekend," Lumkin told InsideTheVille.com Thursday night. "If I feel that's the place I want to be I will commit."
While Lumpkin has an offer from Kentucky, neither Louisville nor Tennessee have extended one, yet. "Both Louisville and Tennessee have told me they are about to offer," said Lumpkin.
But if things go well this weekend in Lexington, both the Cardinals and the Vols might not get a chance to extend an offer.
"Right now my favorite is Kentucky," said Lumpkin. "I get along real well and feel comfortable with their coaching staff. I feel they're a young and improving team and an up and coming program."
Lumpkin said Louisville assistant Mike Summers has talked to him about making an official visit later this month or in early January, while Tennessee is still trying to figure out a date.
Lumpkin recorded 101 tackles, 35 tackles for loss and 10 sacks as a senior.
