Gnat names leader; commitment forthcoming?

Rodney Gnat, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end prospect from Jacksonville, Florida, has a clear favorite and could be getting close to making his college decision. Who is Gnat's leader? When might he commit? has the scoop.

Rodney Gnat could be getting ready to make his college decision, and an in-home visit Thursday night with Louisville coach Bobby Petrino could seal the deal.

Petrino was originally slated to visit with the Jacksonville, Fl., standout Wednesday night, but rescheduled for tonight.

"He actually had to reschedule and will be here Thursday night after his interview," Gnat told, referring to Petrino's media obligations in the Jacksonville area for the upcoming Toyota Gator Bowl.

Gnat told earlier this week that the Cardinals and Minnesota were at the top of his list, and named a leader Wednesday night.

"I'd have to say Louisville is my leader," said Gnat. "That's pretty much where I'm leaning right now."

And though he's got an official visit lined up with Purdue this weekend, don't be surprised if Petrino closes the deal tonight.

"That's quite possible," admitted Gnat when asked if a commitment could be in the offing when Petrino visits. "I've talked to Coach Petrino here and there, and I might either commit when he's here or at the Gator Bowl."

Gnat, rated the No. 58 prospect in the state of Florida by Bill Buchalter, said he'd definitely be attending the Cardinals game Jan. 2 against Virginia Tech in his hometown.
