Nolan Smith nearing college decision?

Oak Hill junior guard Nolan Smith is Louisville's top guard prospect in the Class of 2007. Smith made an unofficial visit to Louisville on Saturday and said he's getting closer to making a decision. How did Smith enjoy his visit? What did Rick Pitino tell him after the game? InsideTheVille.com has the scoop.

LEXINGTON, KY — Nolan Smith had quite a busy weekend. After a 17 point performance on Friday night, the 6-foot-3 guard took a trip to Louisville to take in their game against Akron on Saturday.

Smith was the focus of many fans attention at Freedom Hall. A number of Card fans approached him and Tom Jurich even had a conversation with the 16th ranked player in the class of 2007.

"The environment was great," Smith said with a smile on his face. "Watching the team play and listening to coach talk was real good."

Just as most recruits do on visits, Smith got a chance to talk to Head Coach Rick Pitino and according to Smith the conversation went well.

"Coach Pitino told me that I'm the guard that they want and he's not really trying to rush me," Smith said. "He told me I can take my time."

However Smith did say that Georgetown and Duke still have legit shots at landing his services. He mentioned Georgetown because of their location and said that he is high on Duke because of assistant Johnny Dawkins.

Expect the Oak Hill star to make a decision pretty soon. He said that he wants to have a decision made within a month.

After his unofficial visit to the game, Smith made his way to Bourbon County High School for Oak Hill's game against Harmony Prep.

While Smith didn't play his best game, he did finish with 14 points. He never really got into the flow of the game and didn't put up many shot attempts. Every shot Smith took was in the paint.

The third quarter proved to be his best as he had a flurry of athletic finishes in the lane to put Oak Hill ahead for good. Oak Hill would go on to beat Harmony 78 to 68.
