"I didn't make the trip this weekend," Stanbra told InsideTheVille.com. "I came down with the flu Wednesday and it got worse as the week went on. I'm going to reschedule my visit. It'll probably be in two weeks."
Though he didn't visit, the 6-5, 240-pound Stanbra named the Cardinals his favorite.
"I really want to go to Louisville," Stanbra said. "They're definitely my leader. I can come in next semester. I'd like to do that and get into a good weight program and get stronger."
Why is Stanbra so high on Louisville?
"I like the team," he said. "I've seen them on TV since high school and I really like the way they play. They've always played top teams and either won or been real competitive. I also like how they're defensive front plays. They're really fast."
Though Stanbra doesn't have an offer from Louisville, he said Cardinals offensive line coach Mike Summers is showing considerable interest.
"Coach Summers has made me feel real comfortable about visiting Louisville," Stanbra said. "He seems very interested in me as a player, and I'm very interested in Louisville, too."
"I don't have any offers at this point," Stanbra said. "I was talking to SDSU, but their coach got fired after the season and things are confusing there."
Stanbra made 60-70 tackles, 10 sacks, and forced 3 fumbles this season. His game is about speed and putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
"I'm a tall, lanky defensive end," Stanbra said. "I'm fast and I can come off the edge as a speed rusher and get sacks. I'd classify myself as an edge rusher."
