Trigg County's Jeff Adams pledges to Cards

1st Team All-State selection Jeffrey Adams of Trigg County High School, who will make his official visit with the Cardinals this weekend, extended his verbal pledge to Louisville on Tuesday night three-star offensive lineman Jeff Adams has made multiple unofficial visits with the Louisville football program, so the Trigg County High School product chose not to wait until his official visit this weekend before extending a verbal commitment with the Cardinals.

"He actually decided a couple weeks ago and he decided to go ahead and commit on Tuesday night," Jeff's guardian Dale Futrell told on Thursday afternoon.

The surprise call to the U of L football complex was, according Futrell, very welcome news.

"They were all pretty pleased and said that they were pretty excited about having him come up there and play," he said.

Cardinal offensive line coach Mike Summers visited Adams at his school on Wednesday to discuss his academic standing and while he's not yet eligible, Futrell believes the 6-foot-6, 335-pound lineman will be ready when school starts.

"He's just a little bit from being eligible and most that is with his ACT," he explained. "He needs to bring his ACT up and he shouldn't have any problem."

The 1st Team All-State honoree chose Louisville over offers from Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
