Cards receive pledge from JC defensive end

Allan Hancock CC product, who is a longtime friend of current Cardinal Breno Giacomini, was among four making official visits with Louisville this weekend

Louisville added to it's impressive list of verbal commitments on Sunday when they added 6-foot-2, 230-pound defensive end Elisee Pompilus of Allan Hancock (CA) Community College.

"I'm definitely going there," he said. "I committed to go there."

He was hosted over the weekend by former prep teammate and current Cardinal Breno Giacomini and said his visit was everything that he had been told by his longtime friend.

"I loved it, there wasn't anything not to love," he said of his weekend official visit with Louisville. "The process has been going on for a long time, but I always knew that I wanted to go there. I'm good friends with Breno and he's been telling me a lot of things about Louisville."

Pompilus remained a relative unknown to the Cardinals coaching staff until they received his game film last month.

"They saw my film in December and they contacted me right after they watched it and they told me that they wanted me," he said.

Following his sophomore season at Allen Hancock CC in California where he totaled 37 tackles, nine for a loss and 4.5 sacks, Pompilus was named 2nd team All-Western State Conference Northern Division Team.

Mike Summers served as the primary recruiter for Pompilus who is on pace to graduate in May and is expected to report with the incoming freshmen.

Pompilus also received interest from Miami, Oregon State and Texas Tech.
