St.X kicker will visit U of L this weekend

Cardinal assistant Greg Nord visited St.X 1st Team All-State kicker Tim Dougherty on Wednesday and firmed up a weekend visit. Dougherty spoke to on Thursday about his upcoming visit, what the U of L program has to offer and more.

Louisville St. X kicker Tim Dougherty has continued to hear from in-state rivals Kentucky and Louisville, both of which have extended invitations to join the respective programs as a preferred walk-on.

On Wednesday, the 1st Team All-State selection welcomed Cardinal assistant Greg Nord for an in-home visit and firmed up his first official visit.

"I'm going on an official visit this weekend to Louisville," said the 5-foot-10 soccer style kicker. "I just want to get a good feel for the program and see what my life would be like for the next four years if I went there."

Purdue, which recently lost a verbal commitment from a kicker to Tennesee, has also expressed an interest in Dougherty and may invite him for an official visit next weekend.

"I haven't reached a decision or anything like that yet, but I want to have it all figured out by signing day," said Dougherty, who added that playing time would factor into his decision. "Playing time would be a major factor, because U of L and UK are both good schools to get an education from. The major factor for those two schools is the football aspect and the commitment that the coaches make to me."

The 5-foot-10 soccer style kicker told on Wednesday that Louisville has told him that he could compete for kickoff responsibilities as a true freshman.
