Focus '07: QB Cody Endres

The Pennsylvania class of 2007 quarterbacks will be hard pressed to match the depth of the 2006 class. The Keystone State will have at least ten quarterbacks who sign letters of intent next week, that's not counting others like Aaron Smith and Darren Rogers who will likely play different positions in college. One of the top junior quarterbacks in the state next season will be Cody Endres.

It's hard to be noticed when you play quarterback for a predominantly run oriented offense, but Cody Endres is hoping to change that. The 6-foot-4, 220 pound, quarterback from Trinity High in Washington, Pa., has attracted early interest from Boston College, Iowa, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Ohio State , and Virginia.

"Those are the schools that are showing the most interest right now," Endres said. "I went up to Ohio State while they were practicing for the Fiesta Bowl. It was awesome watching practice. Their facilities are real nice."

Ohio State likely saw Endres when they were pursuing a teammate of his in Andy Miller. Miller recently chose the Buckeye's over Pittsburgh.

"It would definitely be nice to play with Andy again, but I'm wide open." first saw Endres during the University of Pittsburgh 7-on-7 tournament. He caught our eye with his strong arm and quick release.

"Those are strengths, but I think I also manage the game well. I communicate well and lead the offense. I do have a strong arm and I like to move in the pocket."

Like any humble young athlete, Endres also realizes there are areas of his game that he can work on.

"I think I need too improve my speed and do more open field running."

As a junior, Endres threw for 1,062 yards and eight touchdowns. The talented junior only threw three interceptions and completed 51% of his passes.
