"This weekend I will go to Florida State for my first unofficial visit," said Jonathan Birmingham from Alexander City, (Ala.). "I am going to Alabama March 4, and I will go to Auburn March 11. Those are the only schools that I plan to attend their Junior Days right now."
Birmingham grew up cheering for an in-state school, but it's the out-of-state schools receiving the early nod as favorites.
"I grew up an Alabama fan," he said. "It's just a family thing. My top two favorite schools right now are Florida State and Louisville. I like Louisville because of their coaches. They seem really cool. I went down to Florida State with Eltoro [Freeman] last year. I liked the facilities and the atmosphere down there. I am looking forward to my visit this weekend."
Birmingham recorded 74 tackles, three interceptions and three forced fumbles during his junior season.
He knows his strengths and knows what he plans to improve during the off-season as he shared, "I am pretty good at seeing plays develop. I am very active in pass defense, but there are a few things I need to work on. I need to work on my footwork and my speed."
When asked what he is seeking in his college decision Birmingham replied, "Academics is the most important thing to me. The coaching staff and climate are factors as well. I don't want to go anywhere too far away from home."
Birmingham reports a 2.5 GPA and will take the ACT for the first time in April.
