Leader emerges for Darquavis Tucker

Darquavis Tucker, a five-star recruit and the No. 17 prospect in the Class of 2007, named a leader in his recruitment Wednesday night. Which program has taken the lead in the race to land the ultra-athletic junior small forward? InsideTheVille.com has the latest.

Ultra-athletic Michigan small forward Darquavis Tucker named a leader in his recruitment Wednesday night.

Tucker, a five-star prospect and the No. 17 player in the Class of 2007, told InsideTheVille.com that Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals currently sit atop his list of favorites.

"Louisville is my number one pick right now," Tucker said. "I like their style of play, their coaches, and how their players get along together."

As a junior, Tucker, the third-ranked small forward prospect in his class by Scout.com, averaged 23 points and 13 rebounds while leading his team to the Michigan Class A state title.

Tucker has serious interest in the Cardinals.

Tucker said he began to get serious about the Cardinals after the Louisville coaches showed up at several of his games and practices this past season.

"I didn't know Louisville was that into me until they came to my games and practices," he said. "They call me, and I speak with the assistant coach. One of their assistants came to my game last season."

Tucker said he's planning some recruiting visits this spring.

"I'm supposed to be coming to Louisville," he said. "Miami and Georgia Tech are also possibilities."

Tucker told Scout.com earlier this week that Michigan State and Illinois, along with Louisville, comprised his top three.

"They factor into my recruitment," Tucker said. "I like their style of play."

Tucker said he'd like to make a decision after he makes some visits this spring.

"I might make my decision at ABCD," he said.

Tucker will play in Pittsburgh this weekend, and will play at the Tournament of Champions and in Akron later this spring.
