The 5-foot-9, 180-pound back, who led all Louisville-area backs with 1,926 yards as a junior, has started making a few unofficial visits and is scheduled to participate in two upcoming combines.
"I went to U of L for their junior day," he said. "It went pretty good. I liked watching the running backs. George Striping is my favorite back because he's not as big a back which is kind of like me."
A trip south is set for this weekend.
"I'm going down to Arkansas this weekend," said Collins. "Kentucky invited me to their spring game, but I don't think I can go because I have a track meet."
"I think it's too early to have any favorites," he said.
Collins is currently preparing for his final year of prep ball and hopes to be joined by former Louisville running back Lionel Gates soon.
"He's my coaches son-in-law, so we're going to start working out some soon," explained the All-State performer.
Collins averaged a staggering 14.1 yards per carry last fall, helping Western reach the third round of the 2A playoffs.
"We have a new coaching staff this year, but we're looking pretty good," he said. "My coach told me that I'm going to get the ball a lot more this year."
Collins, who will attend a Nike combine in Columbus, will participate in the Scout.com All-American Combine on May 20 at the University of Louisville.
