Dar Tucker inching closer to a decision

Michigan star Darquavis Tucker told InsideTheVille.com last week that the Louisville Cardinals led for his services. Friday night at the King James Classic the athletic 6'4 guard said he's inching closer to making a decision. InsideTheVille.com has the latest.

Darquavis Tucker and the Michigan Hurricanes lost their first round match up Friday night in the King James Shooting Stars Classic against Herb Pope and the Pittsburgh Jots, but it wasn't the athletic 6-4 guard from Saginaw's fault.

Tucker had a big night, scoring from every conceivable angle without talented teammate Alex Legion in the lineup. He hit pull up jumpers, scored in transition, made two three's, and got to the foul line repeatedly. Tucker finished with 23 points, and made 11 of 13 free throws. He also hauled down 7 rebounds, and came up with 4 steals.

"I've got to take a little bit more of a scoring role without Alex here, but I'm used to it," Tucker said.

Tucker came away impressed by the 6-8 Pope, who scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

"He's a good player," Tucker said. "He's got dribbling skills and he can shoot from outside. I've heard about him but I've never seen him play. We're real cool right now. He just does a good job."

Tucker also said he's inching closer to a college decision.

"Yeah, I'm getting closer," said Tucker. "I've narrowed it down to three – Louisville, Marquette, Arizona, and Miami just came in, so Miami, too. I'm getting close though. I might go ahead and do it soon."

How soon?

"Either this month or next month," Tucker said, noting that he'd probably take some unofficial visits before making his decision.

"I'm going to Miami and Louisville next month," he said.

Last week, Tucker told InsideTheVille.com that Louisville was his "No. 1 choice." Tucker confirmed again Friday night that the Cardinals are still in the lead for his services.

"Coach Pitino came up and watched me play (recently)," Tucker said. "He's coming at me strong. That's why they're number one right now."
