In-state tight end receives first offer

Bell County tight end Brent Slusher will attend the All-American combine at Louisville

Bell County (Ky.) tight end Brent Slusher spent much of his spring making numerous unofficial visits, including stops at Auburn, Clemson, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Tennessee and Wake Forest.

The time spent traveling is proving to be worth the effort as the 6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect recently received a scholarship offer from Wake Forest. Auburn has also indicated that an offer would soon be extended.

Slusher, who posted a 38.5-inch vertical at the adidas combine in Knoxville, recently established a new school weightlifting record when he recorded a 355-pound power clean.

This past weekend he attended the Nike combine in Athens, Georgia and finished among the top five in both the vertical and shuttle. Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest were among the school's with assistant coaches on hand watching.

Slusher will attend the All-American combine on May 20 at the University of Louisville.
