Star Illinois RB names co-leaders

Dale Martin, a talented runningback from Bollingbroke, Illinois, already has 17 scholarship offers. Recently, he told Scout.com that he's got a pair of favorites in mind, with another charging hard just behind his pair of leaders.

One of the top running back prospects from the Midwest region is Dale Martin from Boilingbrook (Ill.) High School. Martin, 5-11 and 195 pounds, rushed for over 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.

"I am a back with good vision, speed, quickness and acceleration," said Martin. "I am more of a finesse back but I can take a pounding and move a pile if I have too. I have versatity too because I can block and have very good hands."

According to Martin he has 17 scholarship offers with three teams that stand out and two are his current leaders.

"Right now I would say that Louisville and Iowa are my two favorites but Tennessee is right there. I just have not been to Tennessee yet.

"There is a good situation for me at Louisville because I can play right away because they are losing some guys. The cocahes are real cool and I like their facilities.

"Same thing with Iowa. I habe been going there since my freshman year and I have some former teammates that play there. It's a place where I feel real comfortable.

"I am going to see Tennessee in early June. I love that stadium and would love to play in that stadium. Tennessee has great tradition and warm weather.

"I am also looking at Wisconsin, Nebraska and West Virginia and they have all offered. Of course my favorite school in Texas but they are not really recruiting me because they recruit Texas kids.

"It will come down to coaching staffs and it's nice that I get to choose. The campus and how comfortable I feel will be important too. I just need to find the best fit."
