Justin Collins looking forward to combine

Louisville Western High School running back Justin Collins will be among more than 200 athletes at the Scout.com All-American Combine at the University of Louisville this weekend...

5-foot-9, 180-pound running back Justin Collins uses his speed and elusiveness to avoid defenders and has done so with frequent success. As a junior, Collins rushed for 1,926 yards and 23 touchdowns, finishing third and second in the state in each respective category.

This weekend the All-State performer hopes to show off his talents to the college coaches expected to attend the Scout.com All-American Combine in Louisville.

"I'm really looking for to it - I really am," said Collins, who will spend time working with both the running backs and cornerbacks on Saturday. "I'm hoping to run a good 40 time."

The top returning back in Jefferson County, Collins has made unofficial visits with Arkansas and Louisville this spring and is now making plans for upcoming camps.

"Louisville invited me to their camp and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go," he said. "Kentucky invited me to theirs too and told me that I can come to just one of the days, so I might go up there for that."

West Virginia and Arkansas have also invited Collins to their camps.

Two in-state school's made a recent visit to Collin's Western High School.

"I heard that Louisville's coach, Greg Nord, and Joker Phillips from Kentucky came by the school last week to talk to my coach."

The Scout.com All-American Combine being held at the University of Louisville practice fields on Saturday is open to the public. The combine will run from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Many of the top players from throughout the state of Kentucky will be on hand, as will many other athletes representing more than two dozen states.
