Is Victor Anderson still available?

Brand new video highlights of Louisville St. Xavier running back Victor Anderson makes it clear why Louisville, West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee were so quick to extend scholarship offers. Anderson, who verbally committed to the Mountaineers in April, was recently named to the Midwest Hot 100.

Last June, while competing in the University of Louisville's annual 7-on-7 passing tournament as a rising junior, running back Victor Anderson had a brief conversation with Cardinal offensive coordinator Paul Petrino and learned that the hometown team had a scholarship offer for him. He had a similar experience while attending a camp at West Virginia just a few weeks prior. Kentucky and Tennessee were quick to follow suit, giving the 5-foot-9, 185-pound First Team All-State selection an impressive early list of options.

Others such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma were giving chase, but much of that came to a halt in mid-April when Anderson gave an early verbal commitment to the Mountaineers.

"I wanted to focus on the season and work on my grades, so I decided to get it out of the way," he told of the reason for making an early commitment. "I'm ready to stop getting questions about it."

Anderson put on a display at's All-American held in Louisville in May, earning 1st Team All-Combine honors. National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Newberg recently described Anderson as, "one of the most elusive and electrifying prospects among the Class of 2007."

"What Anderson gives you is a home run threat because he has the uncanny ability to make defenders miss," continued Newberg. "He has super vision and balance, breakaway speed, he can start and stop and accelerate quickly and he also has the unique ability to change directions."

Recently a rumor surfaced that had the St. Xavier star backing out of his pledge to West Virginia, but Anderson says that his commitment hasn't changed.

"Someone told me that they saw something about that on Inside The Ville, but I don't know anything about it," he explained. "I'm still planning on going to West Virginia, but I'm still going to look around. I want to make sure that I find the best place for me."

Anderson, who listed the family atmosphere and strong fan support in Morgantown as key reasons for his early choice, will give a few schools an opportunity to impress him prior to national signing day.

"I'm planning on taking all of my official visits," he said.

This weekend Anderson, along with St. X teammate Daniel Passafiume, will attend camp at West Virginia.
