NBA Camp: Louisville Targets; Day 1

RICHMOND, VA -- Evan Daniels provides evaluations and recruiting news on Louisville's top basketball recruiting targets from the NBA Player's Association Top 100 Camp in Richmond, Virginia. has news on Martez Walker, Anthony Randolph, Dar Tucker and more.

RICHMOND, VA – Most of the prospects on Louisville's recruiting board were in Richmond for the NBA Player's Association Camp. Guys like Dar Tucker, Anthony Randolph and Martez Walker were on full display.

Anthony Randolph – PF – 2007 – There wasn't a better performance on day one than Randolph's. His versatility allows him to do so many different things. In the evening session he had it dialed in from three point range going for four triples. After the triples he stepped inside and drilled a pair of long twos and then went to rack for a pair of dunks. O.J. Mayo and Derrick Rose are the best in the class, but think long run and Randolph could have more potential.

Darquavis Tucker – SF – 2007 – The Saginaw, MI., native didn't have an inspiring first day of camp, but it was decent. He got his normal garbage points in the paint and grabbed his fair share rebounds. With Tucker you get a sensational athlete with some explosiveness. His jumper still needs to work, but it's come a long way.

Martez Walker – SF – 2008 – It's been a while since I've laid eyes on Walker and he looked a lot different. Besides the fact that his jumper is MUCH improved he looked a lot older. Walker's performance in the night session was notable. He knocked down a pair of threes and attacked the basket well. The kid continues to improve and what is inspiring is that he wants to continue to get better and puts forth a lot of effort.

Samardo Samuels – PF – 2008 – Sometimes you just have a bad day. It was that kind of day for the New York native. He missed easy baskets that are normally automatic, not to mention he didn't get many touches in the paint because he's on a guard oriented team.

Cincinnati, OH PF Yancey Gates
is a player to watch in 2008.

Delvon Roe – PF – 2008 – This kid went to work on Wednesday and beat his opponents all over the court. He scored 16 points in his morning session game and scored what had to have been 10 points in a row for his team. He has solid moves inside including a great jump hook.

Yancey Gates – PF – 2008 – This is a prospect that U of L fans should familiarize themselves with as rumor has it, Louisville is about to make a push at him. Gates has a huge, strong body that allows him to take some hits in the paint. He likes to hang out at the perimeter a little too much, but with the right coaching Gates will be great player at the next level.
