Tucker stars at ABCD with Pitino looking on

Teaneck, NJ -- With Louisville coach Rick Pitino standing front and center looking on, Darquavis Tucker, the Cardinals' top 2007 backcourt recruit, had an outstanding performance Thursday night at the ABCD Camp. InsideTheVille.com has the latest.

A big smile flashed across the sweaty face of Darquavis Tucker last night when the name of Rick Pitino was mentioned in a question. The question: "Did the talented guard see the Louisville head coach standing and watching him play?"

"Yes!," Tucker said. "I saw him." He then had a big grin on his face.

Tucker had reason to be happy. He just finished a good night of basketball at the Reebok sponsored ABCD camp being held on the campus of FDU in Teaneck, New Jersey. Tucker recorded 16 points and also grabbed six rebounds. "I like to be involved on both ends of the court," said the 6-foot-3 guard from Michigan.

Tucker was involved. He also demonstrated the ability to drain the jumper. He hit two of his three attempts from beyond the three-point line. Tucker was also sizzling on his drives to the basket, especially in his last eight minutes of play.

All of this came with Pitino watching. "He's a great coach," Tucker said.

Tucker recently took a visit to the Louisville campus. "I had a great time," he said. "I liked everything about it. I like the way Louisville plays."

The spunky athlete also said he is interested in Marquette, Arkansas, Illinois, Miami, and Arizona. "I will probably take some visits," he stated. "Probably in September. Then I'll make my decision."

Tucker also indicated he is open. "I am just enjoying the camp right now," he said. "Then I'll start thinking about the recruiting more."
