Sunday visit for 5-star Mark Barnes? five-star safety/receiver prospect Mark Barnes of Columbia (S.C.) Northeast High School is planning on making an unofficial visit with Louisville on Sunday. Is the trip a sure thing? has the latest on the nation's No.4 safety.

With scholarship offers arriving from all directions, Columbia (S.C.) Northeast safety/receiver Mark Barnes is hoping to use the few remaining weeks of summer break to visit a few of the schools that comprise his lengthy list.

The current total has risen over 30, with Auburn, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Virginia Tech among the many that have the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Barnes high atop their wish lists.

This weekend, Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino hopes to show off the continually growing Cardinal Football complex to one of the nation's hottest prospects.

"It may come down to him coming up there on Sunday, but I know he's still planning on going up there," his father told on Thursday. "I think he's going to stop by a tour another school before going there."

As a junior, Barnes earned All-Area and All-Region honors after totaling 80 tackles and 5 interceptions, while also pulling in 26 catches for 545 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Barnes recently told's Allen Wallace that Louisville, along with LSU, Notre Dame and South Carolina were four programs that currently stand out.

"LSU and Louisville are very similar and I like both schools for the same reason," explained Barnes in late June. "The programs really fit me because they have a balanced offense and defense, and I'm being recruited as both safety and wide receiver. I think I could make a dent in the teams at either position, and they told me I could choose which I want to play."

Odds are also currently in Louisville's favor that Barnes will make a an official visit with the Cardinal program later this year.

"We're definitely going to visit Louisville," his father continued. "We want to take advantage of every official visit that we get. As his parents we need to see these schools just as much as he does."

Stay tuned to for all the latest on Barnes pending visit to the Derby City.
