Smith emerging as top target for Louisville?

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Louisville's Rick Pitino followed Tracy Smith closely in Las Vegas over the weekend. After an outstanding performance two weeks ago at ABCD, the 6'7 PF has continued to make his mark at the Big Time Tournament. Is Smith emerging as the Cardinals top frontcourt target in the Class of 2007? InsideTheVille.com spoke with Smith in Las Vegas and has the scoop.

InsideTheVille.com caught up with 6'7 Tracy Smith for an exclusive interview at the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament.

Smith stated that ever since the ABCD his phone, and his mother's phone have just been blowing up from college coaches. Smith also said that he has been hearing from everyone and is now trying to settle down and compile a list. But you can be for sure that the Louisville Cardinals are going to be in the mix if they want to.

Asked what the key had been for his improved play this summer, Smith said, "I'm finally playing at a weight that allows me to do what I do (best)."

Big time college coaches have taken notice. In Vegas, Smith's games have been packed with the likes of Louisville's Rick Pitino, Memphis' John Calipari and Florida's Billy Donovan, just to name a few.

How does Smith feel about Louisville?

Smith said that Brandon Jenkins (cousin) has been text messaging him a lot recently telling him to come on down to the 'Ville. Smith further stated that he is in the process of lining up some visits in the near future and would love to get down to Louisville for a official visit.

Smith plans on playing his senior year at Mount Zion in Durham, N.C., and at this point he said things are very hectic and has no timetable set for a decision.

o One thing is certain, though. Someone is going to be very happy to get this guy on campus.
