Tyreke Evans: Family ties may help Louisville

LAS VEGAS, NV – Tyreke Evans is one of the elite prospects nationally in the junior class. Though North Carolina is the presumed leader for the 6'5 guards services, family ties could help Louisville as Evans' recruiting race heats up. John Curtis posed five questions to the talented Evans at Nike's Main Event and InsideTheVille.com has the answers.

Being considered the No. 1 rated player in his class is one thing, but as a basketball player the ultimate goal is to win and Tyreke Evans has his priorities straight out here in Las Vegas.

Evans looks like he has put his mind into getting everyone involved this week as he leads Team Final at Nike's Main Event. In the two games that we have caught, Evans has been more of a floor leader than a scorer and even though Team Final needs his offensive punch he seems determined to keep everyone else on his team involved.

In both games that we have seen, Tyreke has scored 11 points in each, but his reputation has gained much attention from the other teams opening the inside for 6'8 forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning. But if your wondering if there is something wrong with Tyreke, think again.

InsideTheVille.com caught up with Tyreke Evans and he had this to say:

ITV: Tyreke how has this week been going for you at the Main Event?

Tyreke Evans: It's been going pretty good. I came out here and I just want to get a (championship). I'm playing for a (championship) down here this week. Whatever it takes is what I'm going to do. I want to leave with a chip. This summer has been pretty good but an injury kept me out of the Nike Camp. But I'm down here looking to have a good week.

ITV: With O.J. Mayo, Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings playing at the Reebok Big Time Tournament, is there anyone that you forward to matching up with this week?

Tyreke Evans is one of Lousiville's
top targets in the Class of 2008.

Tyreke Evans: No, I just want to come out and do what I need to do to help the team.

ITV: Now getting to your recruitment. People have stated that North Carolina is your dream school, but what other schools are appealing to you and why?

Tyreke Evans: Yes, there are a few teams that I like also. Louisville, Texas and UConn are good schools.

ITV: Did you see the Cardinals play last year, and if so how would you see yourself fitting into their system?

Tyreke Evans: I would fit in. I just need to check the campus out and talk to the coaches to see what things are like (there). I want to go somewhere that works.

ITV: Do you have family in Louisville?

Tyreke Evans: Yes, I've got some family in Louisville. They are good people.

ITV: Well good luck this week and I hope you get your (championship).

Tyreke Evans: Thanks.
