Top JR PG lists U of L high atop wish-list

LAS VEGAS -- Jerime Anderson, a 6'1 junior from Anaheim, Ca., has emerged as one of the top point guard prospects in the nation this summer. Anderson currently holds an offer from a PAC 10 program and is receiving heavy interest from some of the nation's top programs. In Las Vegas this week, Anderson listed four teams he's interested in, including Louisville.

LAS VEGAS – While Brandon Jennings and Larry Drew seem to soak up most of the headlines out west as far as Class of 2008 point guards are concerned, Jerime Anderson is a guy that's taken a different path.

It wasn't all that long ago that Anderson was sitting down at the end of the bench.

``The coach would put me in for the last 30 seconds and I'd go in mad," Anderson said. "I was really short. I was 5-foot-4 back in the eighth grade."

``I can understand the last person on the bench, because that was me," he added.

Now Anderson has become a hot commodity on the west coast and his name belongs in the same realm as Jennings and Drew. He has a terrific feel for the game, is unselfish – but can also score when needed – whether it be knifing his way to the basket or knocking down shots from the perimeter.

On the recruiting front, Anderson has a scholarship offer from California, and said he likes UCLA, Arizona, UConn and Louisville.

The 6-foot-2, 165-piund Anderson still needs to get stronger, but his court vision and decision-making makes up for his lack of strength right now.
