Scholarship offer puts U of L among favorites

Late last month Suwanee, Georgia wide receiver Sidney Haynes added a scholarship offer from Louisville to his growing list of college invitations. The three-star prospect recently spoke with about his latest offer, his goals for the '06 season and more.

Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky and South Carolina are among the scholarship offers that three-star wide receiver Sidney Haynes had racked up by late July. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Suwanee, Georgia prospect added an offer from Louisville - raising his total to "10 or 11" - just prior to the start of August.

"It made them become one of my top teams," Haynes said of the Cardinals offer. "Right now I'd have to say that Louisville, South Carolina and UCF are my top three."

Haynes explained that he see's a number of benefits for each school on his short list.

"Louisville is a team on the rise and I like how they use their receivers," he continued. "I like Steve Spurrier at South Carolina and how they move the ball up there. I like Coach O'Leary at UCF and I like how I could play early there. They are a team on the rise too."

A big and athletic receiver, Haynes expects to be the state's top receiver this fall.

"I want to get over 1,000 yards and 50 catches," he said. "I'm trying to set a new state record so I can go down in the record books."

With his season set to kickoff on September 1, Haynes said that he doesn't have a timeline for a possible college decision and that he's ready to focus on his senior year on the gridiron.

"I'm not really sure yet," he explained. "I'll sit down with my dad and make a decision, but I don't know when. I'm just focusing on the season now."
