State's top-rated prospect will attend opener four-star prospect Doug Beaumont of Louisville Male High School is off to a great start in 2006. Beaumont, who recently topped's Kentucky state rankings, tells that he'll be in the stands for the Cardinals season-opener against the in-state rival Wildcats.

Through three games this season, Louisville Male all-purpose athlete Doug Beaumont has done exactly what the state's top-rated prospect would be expected to do. Playing running back and receiver on offense, cornerback on defense and returning punts and kicks for the Bulldogs, Beaumont has racked up nearly 500 yards of total offense, recorded 9 touchdowns and has made multiple stops on defense.

On Sunday the 5-foot-9, 175-pound Beaumont will make an unofficial visit with Louisville for the Cardinals season-opener against in-state rival Kentucky. Both schools have extended the four-star receiver scholarship offers.

"I just want to see what it's like there for the game," explained Beaumont, who has made multiple visits with U of L throughout the spring and summer months. "It should be pretty good."

His visit will likely include a trip to the parking lot of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium to watch the CardMarch at 5:45 p.m..

In addition to the Cards and Cats, Beaumont is also drawing heavy interest from South Carolina and Wake Forest.

When asked if he was planning to wait until the end of senior season to make a college decision, he replied, "probably."

Male will return to action on Friday, September 8 at Louisville Ballard.

Dozens of additional recruiting prospects will also be making unofficial visits with the Cardinal program on Sunday. Included among those will be U of L verbal commit Brad Durham of Rockcastle County, Paris offensive lineman Chase Dumphord, and Newport Central Catholic's Zach Kiernan.

Also among the group will be Top 100 junior prospect Dexter Heyman of Louisville Male. Heyman is the younger brother of Cardinal defensive lineman Earl Heyman.
