Will Luther Davis make an official visit?

Scout.com five-star defensive end Luther Davis of West Monroe (LA) High School has tentative plans to announce his college decision on September 7. Will the nation's 5th-ranked defensive end announce his choice on Thursday? Is Louisville still in the mix? Scout.com has the latest.

Scout.com five-star defensive end Luther Davis' plan to publically announce his college commitment on September 7 may be put on hold.

"I called coaches from the schools I'm choosing from and asked if it would be alright to officially visit after I announced my commitment," Davis said.

He said coaches from LSU, Florida State and Miami told him they prefer he delay his announcement.

Davis told Scout.com that his top three schools are USC, LSU and Florida State. He also said he'll contact Miami and Louisville about officially visiting during or after the season. Florida is another school Davis could visit.

As a junior, Davis recorded 74 tackles, including 14 for a loss and 8 sacks. He also registered 11 QB hurries, forced 4 fumbles and blocked two field goals for the Class 5A State Champions. Following the 2005 season he was honored as an All-State, All-NE Louisiana and All-District.
