Louisville getting involved with 6'10 Ellis?

Keenan Ellis is just getting settled in at his new school, American Christian in Aston, Pennsylvania, where he'll team with junior Tyreke Evans, a top Louisville recruit, this winter. Are the Cardinals now trying to get involved with the lanky 6'10 forward? Ellis' godfather, Steve Ingram, gave InsideTheVille.com the scoop.

Apparently change is good for Keenan Ellis, a lanky 6'10 forward from Indianapolis.

Ellis, formerly one third of North College Hill's potent trio along with O.J. Mayo and Bill Walker, has moved on to American Christian Academy in Aston, Pennsylvania where he will team with 6'5 junior guard Tyreke Evans this winter.

Besides the change of address, Ellis also recently heard from a new school – Louisville.

"Steve (Masiello) called yesterday to let us know that they are interested in Keenan," said Ellis' godfather, Steve Ingram. "He said that they stepped back earlier because of the situation at North College Hill, but they're excited that he'd moved on to American Christian Academy."

Ingram said Masiello told him during their phone conversation that the Cardinals would be making the trip to American Christian some time next week to watch both the 195 pound Ellis and Evans, one of Louisville's top targets in the Class of 2008, workout.

"Keenan's still open and would definitely consider (Louisville)," Ingram, a Louisville native, said.

While the Cardinal coaches will be traveling to Pennsylvania next week, they're also slated to receive a big-time unofficial visit when Evans visits Louisville next weekend, a trip that will correspond with the U of L-Miami football game. "I know that Tyreke is going down next Friday," Ingram said.

Might Ellis join his new teammate?

"I doubt it," Ingram said. "But what I've learned is that anything can happen in the course of a week."

UAB is considered strong with Ellis, primarily because of Blazers head coach Mike Davis. New Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson has also been showing recent interest.

"Mike Davis has been consistently recruiting him since the 8th grade," Ingram said. "And Indiana has been text messaging lately."

Presently, Ellis has no official or unofficial visits lined up, primarily because he's trying to get settled in at his new school. Ingram said that Ellis' recruitment has opened up since moving to American Christian and that's a prospect that excites the Scout.com Top 100 prospect.

"Now that he's by himself at a new school, people are rushing in," Ingram said. "A lot of folks are saying they want to get him on campus."

Though UAB appears strong with Ellis, Louisville has familiarity on its side.

"Keenan knows six or seven guys at Louisville," Ingram said. "He played AAU with George Goode this summer, and he knows Edgar Sosa and Jerry Smith from the NBA camp. He also knows Derrick Caracter real well too."
