Interest rising for CB Terry Carter

One of a hanful of Division I prospects on the West Monroe (La.) High School team, defensive back Terry Carter has noticed a recent uptick from colleges throughout the region. InsideTheVille.com has the latest.

Posessing excellent speed, cornerback Terry Carter of West Monroe (La.) High School is no secret to college coaches. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete has already collected a trio of scholarship offers and has recently noticed an increase of interest from a number of others.

"I have offers from Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas and Duke," Carter said on Monday evening. "A couple more teams have started to send me things, Mississippi State, Colorado and Southern Miss."

After playing safety as a junior, Carter is now displaying his speed and cover skills at the cornerback position.

"I'm averaging about 6 tackles a game," he said. "I have two interceptions, a forced fumble and a blocked punt."

Carter is also a teammate and cousin of Scout.com five-star defensive lineman Luther Davis.

"We've talked about going to the same school to play a few times," Carter told InsideTheVille.com. "That's what we'd like to do."

That fact, coupled with Carter's blazing 4.4 type speed, has grabbed the attention of the coaches at the University of Louisville football complex.

"I talked to one of their coaches the other day," said Carter. "They said that they like my speed and that they wanted to see my video. I told my coach, so it should be up there by the end of the week."

Despite the current offers, Carter explained that he's focused on helping his team reach the state 5A Championship later this year.

"I don't have any favorites right now. My coach said that wants us to wait until after the season to take our visits because they make you tired, so we're trying to keep our attention on the season."

As a junior, Carter totaled 57 tackles and notched three interceptions from the free safety position. He earned 1st Team All-State honors.
