Pitino visits Scotty Hopson

Louisville coach Rick Pitino visited 6'5 Scotty Hopson, Kentucky's top-rated junior, Tuesday afternoon in Hopkinsville. What did the athletic wing think of Pitino's visit. Have the Cardinals intensified their efforts with Hopson?

Rick Pitino travelled to Hopkinsville, Kentucky Tuesday to see Scotty Hopson, a 6'5 junior forward from University Heights.

Hopson, the top-rated player in the state, exploded on the AAU scene with the Midstate Ballerz over the summer and has seen his recruitment intensify this fall. He's already made several unofficial visits, including to Louisville and Kentucky. The high-flying wing attended Kentucky's Midnight Madness last weekend.

"It went good. I liked the environment," he said.

Hopson claims an offer from the Cardinals and Pitino's visit Tuesday might signal intensified interest in the high-flying 180-pound prospect.

"It went well," Hopson said of Pitino's visit. "They've been calling a lot more lately. There's been a lot more communication with Coach Pitino and Coach Masiello recently."

"I like him a lot," Hopson said. "I like (Louisville) and their style of play. "I haven't really narrowed it down yet, but I really like them."

Hopson, who is being recruited by Cardinals assistant Steve Masiello, said he's likely to make an unofficial visit for Louisville's Dec. 16 game against Kentucky.

"Coach Masiello called the other day," said Hopson. "He said Louisville didn't want me, they need me."
