poured in 24 points to help lead the Cardinals come back from an 11-point halftime deficit to claim a 100-87 win over Northwestern State.
His 24 points are the most ever for a freshman debut, surprassing a previous mark of 22 points set by Marques Maybin in 1997.
Smith connected on 3-5 from beyond the three-point arc and was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line. He also totaled 4 assists, three rebounds and two steals in the win.
