Cards eyeing Florida linebacker

Central Florida prospect Marquiste Ramos has collected six scholarship offers and has two official visits scheduled.

Palm Bay Bayside High School linebacker Marquiste Ramos ranks among the nation's top 100 linebackers and for good reason. At 6-foot-4, 220-pounds and a great nose for the ball, Ramos is a demanding presence on the field.

"I'm agressive," said Ramos, who totaled over 100 tackles as a senior. "That's the way I play every down."

With his senior season now over, Ramos has turned more of his focus towards recruiting.

"I'm have trips set up with Colorado (12/15) and Temple (1/21) right now," Ramos said. "I'm also looking at Louisville and South Carolina. I just sent them more video and have to call them back."

Ramos' scholarship count has recently grown to six.

"I have offers from Colorado, Temple, UCF, Florida Atlantic, Eastern Kentucky and Colorado State," he said. "They love my size and the way I play."

As for a current favorite, Ramos remains open.

"I don't really have a favorite right now," he said. "I want to take my visits and then figure it all out."

A recent trip to the doctor revealed that he may continue to grow.

"I'm about 6'5 now," said Ramos. "The doctor said that I still have open growth plates, so I could still get taller."

Because of his size, some coaches are tempted to move him to the defensive front.

"Some of them have talked to me about being a defensive end and some have said SAM linebacker," Ramos said. "I like both - it doesn't really matter to me."
