Despite holding the Bobcats to just 28 percent shooting in the first half, Louisville could only manage a 27-27 tie at the half, primarily because the Cardinals committed more turnovers (13) than field goals made (10). After the break, Sosa and Brandon Jenkins combined for several three's to go on a 16-3 run and build a 51-35 lead.
But the Bobcats weren't about to go away. Ohio attacked Louisville inside and came up with timely steals to cut the lead to 56-55 with under six minutes to play. Ohio got strong performances from Sonny Troutman, who scored 22 points and freshman Jerome Tillman had 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Then Sosa took over down the stretch, despite being hampered with four fouls. He hit a pair of three-pointers and some clutch free throws to help Louisville escape with a narrow three point victory and improve to 3-2 on the young season.
Louisville returns to the court Saturday night to face St. Joseph's from the Atlantic 10.
