Big East battle brewing for Florida DT?

Lake City, Florida defensive tackle prospect Rene Perry will make official visits with Louisville and South Florida in January.

"Everything is pretty much even," said 5-foot-11, 265-pound defensive tackle Rene Perry of his scholarship opportunities. "I'm going to finish my visits and then figure it all out."

Perry visited Ball State in early December and has a trip to Louisville scheduled for January 12. "I'm working on a visit with South Florida. I'll probably go there the week after I visit Louisville."

"I want to look at the team as see if they bond together and do stuff together off the field," continued Perry. "I also want to find a school that does pretty good in the field (Finance Management) that I'm thinking of going into."

While the Lake City, Florida prospect claims that all things are even among those he's visiting, Perry admits that Louisville's presence in the FedEx Orange Bowl makes the Cardinals an attractive option.

"It does a little," he said. "It's a BCS bowl and they can compete for a championship now. I talked to (Paul Petrino) a couple days ago and he invited me down to watch them practice, but it's too far for us."

Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss have also extended scholarship offers, with others such as Florida and Ole Miss showing interest.
