Johnson has talked with the Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School star numerous times since Bobby Petrino made the decision to leave U of L to become the coach for the Atlanta Falcons. The most recent communication between the two came on Monday evening.
"I talked to Coach Johnson earlier about everything and they are still working on things," Martin told InsideTheVille.com on Monday night. "He told me that he and the running backs coach, Coach Nord, are staying, so that's good for me."
Martin admits that Johnson and Nord remaining on the Cardinal staff would strengthen the odds that he'd sign with Louisville on signing day next month. However, an in-home visit from the new head coach will be the key to his future signature.
"They are supposed to be introducing the coach from Tulsa (Steve Kragthorpe) as the new coach and Coach Johnson is supposed to call me back later this week," said Martin. "The new coach is supposed to come down to my house later this month, so we can meet and get to know each other."
"Basically it comes down to if I feel comfortable with the new coach there," he added.
