"I don't think he'll visit Louisville this weekend," Newsome said. "He's going to postpone that visit until he gets a chance to talk to the new coaching staff. He got a text message a few days ago from Joe Whitt, but I don't think he's talked to the new coaches yet."
Though the North Carolina commit won't make his scheduled visit this weekend to U of L, Newsome said the 6-2, 245-pound Houston still has interest in Louisville.
"He's definitely still interested in Louisville, but he doesn't want to invest the time and effort of a visit until he knows if the new staff at Louisville still has interest in him as a running back," Newsome said. "He's not the fastest guy in the world and not every coach wants a running back as big as Ryan."
If new Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe wants to keep the door open with Houston, he had better make quick work to get in touch with the standout running back.
"He has talked to Butch Davis and North Carolina intends to use him at running back," Newsome said. "Ryan said with the coaching change at Louisville if he doesn't hear from the new coach quickly that he's going to solidify his commitment with North Carolina.
